Increasingly, consumers, families and supporters are invited to be part of co-design processes with organisations and funders. But how do you know when it’s authentic co-design or simply friendlier consultation? In this first open session of the new Lived Experience Co-design Community of Practice, we’ll be having a look at what co-design is and what it’s not. Come along, learn, share, contribute and be part of this new community.
The Lived Experience Co-design Community of Practice is a space where individuals, family members and supporters with experiences of mental health, alcohol and other drug use can come together in authentic, safe, equal and respectful relationship to learn, share, discover and grow for the purpose of strengthening and safeguarding the integrity of co-design processes and for the positive benefit of all concerned.
The Lived Experience Co-design Community of Practice was the brainchild of participants in a series of Co-design Cafes which were held in Perth in July 2020.The WA Association for Mental Health, Well Rounded and Mental Health Matters 2 partnered to deliver the cafes and are involved in supporting the Community of Practice, which of course has been co-designed! The establishment of the Community of Practice has been supported by a Mental Health Commission grant.
