what is peer lived experience supervision?
Lived Experience (Peer) Supervision is a dedicated space for peer workers in ‘designated’ roles where Lived Experience expertise is essential.
Led by trained LE (Peer) supervisors, it gives peer workers time to reflect on their practice and stay true to the core values of peer work — authenticity, connection, humanity, diversity, mutuality, and human rights.
LE (P) Supervision helps peer workers grow in their roles, stay clear about boundaries, and develop within the LE (Peer) work discipline. It also protects the unique strengths and contributions of peer practice, making sure it doesn’t get diluted by, or confused with clinical or management approaches. By doing so, it supports the long‑term sustainability of the LE (Peer) workforces.

Find the best LE (Peer) supervisor for you
Hi there!
My formal peer education began in 2015 as a National Peer Champion, to which I bring a family/significant other perspective. I am strongly committed to supporting sustainable LE (Peer) workforces having been Deputy Co-Chair for the development of the National Guidelines (2021) and WA Framework (2022).
I value a reflective supervision space that is relational, strengths‑based, and grounded in mutuality, curiosity, clarity, and growth.
I have experience and enjoy working with a diversity of peers including First Nations. The peers I have co-reflected with are employed across a range of roles in community and government settings in the mental health, alcohol and other drug, homelessness and justice sectors, with a particular focus on leadership and governance.
I am a mother with family lived experience of mental health distress, alcohol and other drugs, and justice involvement.
As a trained LE (Peer) supervisor, I am committed to creating a safe enough space for coreflection — where supervisees can pause, explore, and grow their practice in ways that feel authentic and meaningful. My style is relational and strengths based: I listen deeply, draw on
decades of diverse experience in working in areas of disability, family violence, family law and youth, and bring a sense of humour to remind us that we are all human and all learning.
I’m Tam Hazell, a Lived Experience (Peer) Supervisor with a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work and specialised Peer Supervison training through Mental Health Matters 2.
I bring a Family/Significant Other perspective, I specialise in child protection, domestic and family violence, youth mental health, alcohol and other drug and mental health support for families, carers, and significant others. I create safe spaces for deep reflection, helping you integrate the core principles of the WA Lived Experience (Peer) Workforce framework into your practice.
Through collaborative learning and gentle curiosity, we’ll explore your biases, strengths, and the stories shaping your work. I bring authenticity, preparation, and genuine partnership to support your professional growth in your Lived Experience work.
